An independent celebration for the art of cinema
We are happy to announce the official opening of the 2nd KISFFO (Karditsa International Short Film Festival Opseis) that will take place from 27 to 31 August 2024 in the town of Karditsa, Greece. This is the second year for the festival and your participation will contribute to the success of this independent celebration for the art of cinema.
This annual festival includes a short film contest, live film screenings, an award ceremony, side events, panel discussions, presentations, workshops, and tributes to honored artists.
KISFFO is an independent short film festival that accepts film submissions with open theme from all countries, Greece included. Our vision for KISFFO is to be hosting important filmmakers’ work and to offer them the opportunity to interact and communicate with the audience.
KISFFO only accepts films that are submitted through our FilmFreeway page.
Awards & Prizes
All submitted films will be reviewed exclusively from the experienced committee of the festival, and will be judged for their overall cinematic result. The films that will get the ‘Cinematic Achievement Award’ will have the opportunity to be screened live during the festival.
KISFFO has a contestive character. The 1st KISFFO awards that are mentioned below will be judged exclusively by the festival committee and include the following categories:
- ‘Cinematic Achievement Award’
- ‘Best Short Film National Award’
- ‘Best Short Film International Award’
- ‘Best Documentary National Award’
- ‘Best Documentary International Award’
- ‘Best Animation Short Film National Award’
- ‘Best Animation Short Film International Award’
KISFFO may also include Audience Awards for the same categories mentioned above that will be judged by the audience during the festival live screenings.
The KISFFO committee may also award the following categories:
- Direction
- Best Photography
- Original Music
- Best Actor
- Best Actress
- Best Editing
Festival's Judging
Committee
KISFFO has a contestive character. Submitted films claim the “Cinematic Achievement Award” and the “Golden Apollo Prize”. Awards and prizes are judged by the Festival’s Committee. Members of this year’s Festival’s Committee are presented below.
Music composer, choreographer - director and translator. He studied dance at the school of Rallou Manou, Scuola di danza Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Steps New York, Dupree dance academy Los Angeles.
Lucas Thanos
Painter, scenographer and costume designer, graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts. He has been teaching for a number of years at the Drama School of the National Theatre.
Giannis Metzikof
Scenographer and costume designer. He served the National Opera as Technical Director and was commended for his contribution. He was honored with the Scenography award for the film "Caravan Sarai".
Antonis Chalkias
An artist engaging with sculpture, video art and film. She was recently featured in the 59th International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia with her 2020 short film Lacerate.
Janis Rafailidou
Actor and playwright. He is a graduate of the Dramatic School of the National Theater. He worked as an actor at the National Theatre, Karolo Koun Art Theatre, House of Letters and Arts, etc.
Vasilis Magouliotis
Boston area freelance photographer. His photographs have been featured in national publications such as People Magazine, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and more.
